Local business family pledges $1 million dollars to Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Wong family, local business owners and founders of the Bel Air Supermarket chain, have pledged $1 million dollars to the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation.   Family spokesperson Bill Wong made the announcement at the annual SASF Crab Feed on Saturday, November 22, 2003.   Thanks to this very generous gesture by the Wong's, the SASF has now received a total of $3.3 million in donations, pledges, land and major in-kind services.   This allows the SASF to move forward toward construction of the community/recreational facility on property in the Laguna/Elk Grove area of South Sacramento County.   Construction of the facility is tentatively scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2005.

The size of the facility will be determined by the total amount of funds raised.   Our target is $4.25 million.   A Brick Campaign is now underway in an effort to raise the additional $1 million to meet our goal.   Bricks, which will become a permanent part of the new facility, are being sold at the cost of $1,000 per brick.   The sale of 1,000 bricks would allow the SASF to raise the additional monies needed to reach the target.

The Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a community/recreational facility in the Elk Grove/Laguna area of South Sacramento.   The SASF promotes and supports sports and cultural programs for children, youth and adults in Sacramento County to encourage and facilitate the development of good character, leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship.
